Not mourning yet, the sun is still gone away.
I am all about granting rights to same sex couples, that is fair. I do have a problem with calling it marriage. There is no reason to stop consenting adults from doing what seems best to them, but when you want to call it by a name that has been established throughout history as a particular thing, then the definition is weakened when you use it for something else.
To prescribe meanings diverse is nothing more than political double-speak. Like less fortunate. If someone wins the lottery, the neighbor who plays but fails to win, is less fortunate. Someone who has a job that nets them a wage, they are not more fortunate than the person who does not.
I like the English language. There are a reasonable amount of words, and they all mean something. It is regrettable when the language is left wanting by those who serve only their own agenda.
I also like the constitution. I think it is amazing that on the first try, James Madison, et al. managed to create a document that stands as the oldest written framework for government in the history of mankind. It has served us well for the last 220 years. I fear that assaults on the source of strength for our nation have gone on unabated since the seventies, and now the seminality of this document is at risk. There may not be a future that I wish to pursue in this country.
There is a precipice, and people lined up to step off, but I will not follow.
