Assault
What you have done is stumbled onto truth in an attempt to make your point.
Be careful here.
Scalia is right.
The constitution lines out 7 things the federal government can do, and the bill of rights draws with hard edges 10 things the government specifically cannot do.
The constitution is the longest standing document describing a system of government IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. It is wonderful and has allowed this country to be the best and shining light, and target, and destination to most every free thinking individual anywhere you might find them.
No other document has raised the people under its purview to such heights as our constitution.
Humans are the same the world around. What keeps the workers slaving in the rice paddies in China, what causes them to revolt in France, what causes people allover the world to want to come here and be a part of this culture? It is not because the people here are different, it is because freedom, and the laws to define it are in place to create an environment where anyone can succeed, if they try.
This is not the case in most other places in the world.
We must protect the constitution from people who want to change it for their own gain. Whoever they are. The constitution was made intentionally hard to change because it meant something when it was written. It still means something for now, but with the lack of respect it has been shown for the last 50 years, it cannot last much longer as a beacon of hope to those oppressed masses all over the world who see the light it casts as hope for their own better future.
